you belong here and you feel it don’t you ?

.

you are special  in the horse world…right ?

.

you know you are not like other people…right ?

.

you have known for a long time you have inside you a strong draw to horses.

.

you have always been so fascinated and attracted to them…right ?

.

……well, it is no coincidence and i think you already know that.

.

the universe has designed and built you to be exactly the way you are and you must work with that.

this brings us to our last principle way to better communication with your horse.

.

.

use your feelings. being special, the way you are also entitles you to special gifts from the horse spirit world.

.

you are allowed to sense, feel, and know things about horses that others, no matter how hard they try, are not able to.

.

i’m sure you have known this for quite some time….right ?

.
how i ride my horses bridless.  how i train for bridless.  how i solve problems.

every bridless horse is very different every rider is too,

.

 rule # 1.

·   you need to be like a good doctor have lots of patience.

·   with no forward motion, it will be a side pass, with forward motion, it will be a passage.

·   a slightly different cue and it becomes a lead change.

·   i focus on five parts of the horse’s body in all training i do. .

.

.

.1.    the head is part one.

.

2.    the neck is part two.

.

3.    the shoulders are part three.

.

4.   the barrel is part four.

.

5.   the hind end is part five.

.

these are only the basic five parts. each control can be manipulated. you must learn these manipulations perfectly and your horse too .the cues must be perfected  until they are invisible..rhythms. everything i do on a horse is in a rhythm..everything.

.

why.?…….. because our brains respond to rhythm….horses too.  silence has a rhythm..stillness has a rhythm.frequencies. a vital  part of my awareness when i work with a horse.all my equipment is quiet.·      no squeaking, rattling jingling etc. ·     a simple sound to you could be a concentration crusher to your horse..·     .the noises occurring around my horse and i are also noticed.  ·      i notice my horses breathing. the rhythm.

.

·     .i notice my breathing. the rhythm.  ·     i notice the sound of the hooves hitting the ground. the rhythm.·     i notice my horses breathing. the rhythm.·       everything in life must have balance.  ·      i constantly adjust my balance sitting on a horse. ·      my horse constantly adjusts his balance to remain free flowing under me. ·       my discipline must be balanced with praise. ·       i choose to be heavy handed with praise.  ·      my horses choose to be heavy handed with effort.·       it is balanced.

.

by far the most important balancing in my life is respect.  i worship horses.

.

all horses.  mine and everyone else’s.  horses sense this and respond in kind.  it is the reason for my great success with horses.  they are my mentors, my healers, my teachers.  my life.  this is what it takes to achieve bridless.·     noises..the noises occurring around my horse and i are also noticed.keep it quiet.·      materials rope.   twine.  small cable.  cord..

easily found at your local hardware store.  you can use it just like this to make a headstall and rein.   you can use it just like this to make a headstall and rein of any size.  liquid starch can stiffen it if you choose.
·

.

i often use  string only for reins and use the leader material for the headstall.  my favorite is fishing leader because it slides real easy.

.

the horse does not ever feel it rubbing on their head and it is not bothered by sweat or fly spray which has a lot of  weird chemicals in it that can chew thru some other materials pretty fast.

 ·

some people really like the rope halter material. i personally think a horse can feel it on their head no matter how lightweight it is.  they can definitely feel it if it is a rein.   yes…it is strong and cheap and has great durability.  i like sampson brand.

·     below is one on my many training devices.   headstall holding one of my bridless training reins in my hand.·

this would be your view of the horse as you sit on his back.  this is one of my training bridles. as you ride,  just tuck the rein up under the crown of the headstall.  the horse won’t even know its there.

.

this is important.  there will never ever be any pulling on this headstall.   it does not need to be very strong.  it is for emergencies only if you need to grab your horse.   this type of headstall can only be used with very calm dependable horses.

.

if your horse still has flighty moments, stay with heavier rope.where to starto  start by stopping.  many of our horses can easily stop without pulling back on the reins.  especially show horses that are heavily worked on boring monotonous routines until perfection is achieved.  they love whoa.  start there.

.

just do it very gradual.rhythm beads….too noisy. …don’t use them!

.

your horse needs to hear your vocal aids.  subtle aids,  especially when you are beginning.o  your horse needs all the re-assurance and help you can offer vocal aids help for sure.

.

all your equipment needs to be super quiet. no jingling.  no rattling. no squeaking. no ringing of cell phones or talking to friends until you get really good.sitting softly..

.

.this is a lot easier when you are bareback,   at least to me it is.

.

i stop a lot…every single time i stop i take at least one step backwards.

.   it is important the horse stops when and where i tell him to…not 6 steps after.

.  often times ..i only lope a few strides and stop and back.o  the back does not need to be lots of steps, a couple is fine.

.

depending on your horse and how they are used to you treating them,  it will be to your great benefit to remain very positive throughout this training.

.

this is important please re read. re read again….again, again.  i give treats often to show my approval of their efforts,  not necessarily their sucsess in their efforts.treats.  i give candy or scratches, sometimes both,

.

always hugs, rubs and lots of petting.

.

i also use this time to communicate in a more intimate psychic way.

.

giving treats is also a great way to keep your horse supple and soft.

.

make them really reach back far.  this is specially important with draft horses. they are naturally stiff and rigid due to their thick muscling.love.  if you do not truly..and deeply love you horse more than life itself you will not be capable of bridless unity and success.professional lessons.

.

in the beginning, making mistakes could cost you more than you even want to think about.  it is absolutely critical you go to a professional bridless trainer for a few lessons. i sara shalda make house calls.  just let me know when you are ready. sarashalda@aol.com

.
.
.
.
.
.
This journey is extremely personal, extremely intimate.
.
Between you and your horse,
.
No one else should see it.
.
.No one else will understand it.
.
.
.
.
This book will help you see where you have come from and where you are going.  What your options are.
.
.
.
You will be a different person by the time you leave this place.
.
.
Your horse will know it.
You will know it.
And that is all that matters to me.  .
.
.
.
My horse spirit guides have wanted me to do this work for a long Time.  I finally have.  I’m glad I listened to them.  I have had many things kept inside me.  Sharing them feels good.  Watching them help others feels even better.
.
Thank you for spending time in my beautiful world.  Thank you wanting to love your horse more and have a closer relationship with him.  Thank you for your energy.  Your time.  Your heart.  Your trust in meSara shalda.
.
.
Who I thank for who I am today.
.
 I thank my teachers:
.
The jumpers,
the buckers,
.
the strikers,
.
the rearers,
.
 the bolters.
.
The biters,
.
.
.
 The horses I flew with,
.
 the horses I soared with,
.
 the horses I cried with,
.
.The horses I cheered with,
.
.
the horses I danced with, the horses I raced with,
.
.
.
The horses I relaxed with,
.
the horses I healed with,
.
the horses I watched be born
.
The horses I watched pass away.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
The purpose of this time we share is to take you to a place you have never been before.
.
I amOnly the chauffeur, only the driver of the car.
.
.
It is up to you to decide if you want to Stay and live in this new place or not.  It may feel foreign and awkward to you.
.
.
Maybe even scary and intimidating.
.
.
For some reason that I cannot explain I am able to see, hear, and sense many things about horses that other are unable to.
.
.
.
Maybe they never tried.  Maybe they do not have the same capabilities I do.  Maybe I was chose to be here for this purpose, I really do not know.  All I really do know is I see People…lots of people struggle with their horses and I feel the horse’s pain.  I feel it intensely.
.
.
.
When I was young, I thought everybody was like this.  It was not until I Started going thru my teen years that I came to realize how indifferent most people really were to the inner workings of a horse.  It always mystified me because to me, it was so clear and came with no effort whatsoever.
.
.
.
So it has taken me a long time but I Have come to understand what makes me different and it is ok to be different because I Am so comfortable in the horse world.  I get along with horses much better than with People unless I am involved with that person in a riding lesson or preparing for a horse Show.
.
.
.
From the day we are born, we are constantly urged to not cry, not show our true Feelings.
To be quiet and content with the way the world is at all times.  Behave and be a good child.  That is the human world.
It has absolutely no bearing whatsoever on the horse world and it must be set aside.  Separated and well kept for use when we go back into the human world.
The horse world is all about feelings and trying to figure out people.  Horses try desperately to figure us out.  Especially when we start Handling, them, and we are communicating with them.
This is in a foreign language.  It is bewildering to them and the only thing they know is do what comes natural, to Make everything ok, except not everything is ok because people do not understand them and a conflict ensues.  The typical horse will give it a few honest tries and then Quit in frustration.
Maybe you are the same way.
I think I can help with that.
When you see a person and a horse, in any situation, riding, walking together, etc., what do you feel…?  Do you feel what it must be like to be that person?  Or do you feel what it must be like to be the horse?  Or do you feel nothing at all?
The beginning of my psychic awakening.
.
How it all started when I was 16. I had been having a strange dream for the last few nights.  Making me mad because it kept waking me up.  A stupid dream about a pony crying out for my help.  What a stupid dream!
.
.
.
.
.
At a show a few days later, I was unloading my horse.  My mind was on the usual million things I had to do to get things ready for competition when all of the sudden………….I heard…
.
.
.
” you sona-va-bi*&%”… at shouting level…by a man.  I stopped dead in my tracks.  It was the same mans awful voice form that stupid dream that kept waking me up the last few nights!
.
.
I went around the corner and saw a man, a wife, a small child about 7 and a little, very little yellow pony.  The man was trying to cinch the pony and it was going very bad to say the least!Every time the very large man forcefully pulled up on the cinch, the pony jumped about two feet into the air with its ears pinned back almost yanking the poor woman off her feet!
.
.
.
Every time the man pulled, the pony jumped.  Every time the pony jumped… the man yelled andKicked the pony as hard as he could.
 He was a big man.
.
How is it possible I could hear this pony crying for my help 4 days ago?  It literally was like someone punched me in the gut.  My blood ran ice cold!
.
This wasn’t fair gosh darn it.  I was just trying to mind my own business and get my horse ready for an important show I had worked very hard for.
.
.
.
Now I had to confront this angry man, scared wife, child and pony that was getting pinched severely with every cinch pull.  Oh did I mention I could actually feel the pain on my side where the pony’s cinch was pinching.
Geese… ouch… wow.  The pony was being hurt.
.
.
.
It had been going on for weeks and it was unbearable for the poor thing.  That was not all.  Nobody knew what was happening to the pony at home.  At night, every night, when the pony would lay down and try to go to sleep…one of the playful yearling stable mates would sneak up on the poor pony and jump on him.The pony was not lucky enough to have his own stall.
.
.
.
During the day, the pony was tough enough to stand toe to toe with any of the other horses he was pastured with.  At night he was tired of being tough all day and really needed his sleep.  The yearling, like most babies do, slept most of the day and showed no signs of aggressiveness to the pony.
.
This is what the owners saw…no problem between the yearling and the pony so they had no idea what trauma the poor pony was being tormented by every single night.  I later came to realize that was, indeed, was the reason the pony came to me in a form of a dream so I could have a small taste of a few sleepless nights similar to the agony the pony was feeling.
 Wow.
So needless to say, I stepped in and tried to explain to these people what was going on. .
.
.
.
I was approaching 3 irrational people and an irrational pony.  Someone help me, please.  No surprise, it did not go well.  .
.
I left mad and all messed up in my head.  I was angry at everyone and everything and took it out on my own well-behaved horse.  the rest of the day was un-enjoyable even though I won grand champion, high point and all that bla-bla-bla…I was torn up and a complete basket case.
.
I stayed that way until the long ride home after the show.  I never play the radio.  I think constantly.  Think.  Think.  Think.  On the way home, a lot of things came to me fast and furious like ninja star blades.  Was I losing my mind?  I’m normally such a quiet focused person at a show.
.
What happened?  Why was I stuck in the middle of this mess?  I had 12 different thoughts all battling for top dog and I just wanted to stay out of the fight but I could not.
.
There was no denying it was my destiny to go through that *&%@** and I knew it.  I also knew I had not handled it right.  I did not know how to do it better but I knew I had to figure it out…and fast.
.
.
.
.
.
Over the next few days I had nothing but static in my head.  Too many tunes all at once.  Too manyVoices and I felt so stupid.  Again, I was angry and defeated and gave up.
.
Then I realized …not all those voices and radio stations were mine.  they were actually other horses trying to reach out me and help me learn how to help one of their fellow mates……..
holy crapp……
.it was such a earth tilting paradigm shift I felt like I was going to fly right off the planet.
 even worse..
.. I had nobody to talk to about this.
.
I was on my own just like the pony.  If you are out there god, you must know this is too much for me I said.  I just want to win blue ribbons at horse shows.I never wanted to open the universal psychic portal to the entire equine population for crying out loud!
.
.
.
.
.
.
I didn’t know what to do and the entire world was on my shoulders.  I was still feeling the pony’s pain .every day and it was unbearable.  So I took a long walk with one of my oldest and most trusted broodmares.  We went down into a nice trail in the woods and I just listened.
.
.
I listened for a long time to everything she had to say and she was wonderful.  I had known this horse nearly all her life and never had I heard her inner soul speak to me or felt her spirit move me to do anything.
.
.
She actually told me that, this situation; the pony was going thru, is one of her greatest fears for her offspring.  She always wonders what will happen to her babies when they are sold and taken away from her.
  Geeze
that was deep.
.
.
She went on to tell me many of her other fears like dying while giving birth.
 Wow.
 This was overwhelming.
.
.
.
.
.
.
she even went so far as to give me some the memories she had as a young foal….what it felt like to be weaned.
….
so as a mother she not only suffered the torment of being separated from her baby…but she also re-lived her own trauma of remembering what it was like to be torn away from her own mother at weaning time.
.
I was shaken to my core.  All this time…  I was the big horse trainer…breeder and I always cranked out all these babies… each year… like clockwork, weaned them, and sold them.  I made a good profit as any respectable breeder should and always patted myself on the back for the excellent job I did producing such fine quality young stock.
.
I never heard all the voices of the babies at the big futurities.  Babies so stressed, depressed, and crying out for help.  Crying out for some reassurance.  For mommy.  For somebody.  Anybody. I was so thankful now.  I was no longer angry, selfish, and egotistical.
.
Now I was one small step into a journey, of what would become the greatest adventure of my life.
.
The difference is this adventure, is that it would never end.  Even when I die.  I will only continue to live among my horses, just in a different books/sara_shalda.jpgdimension.  So what ever happened to that pony, right?  Ha …gotchaYou do feel it… don’t you?
.
your heart DID hurt a little bit didn’t it?  Just think.  You are only reading a book right now and it still came through to you.  Just imagine how much more powerful it will be in real life once you learn how to tap into your undiscovered unique psyche only you posses……………   Are you starting to feel it now?
.
Are you starting to realize and feel the other side yet?  Maybe you can see a little light way up in the distance of your soul.  Don’t fight it.  You must welcome it.  Welcome it into your soul like a friend into your home.
Your world is up to you.

 sara_shalda/sara_shalda_13.jpg IDENTIFYING
There is a horse, out there, somewhere… right now trying to communicate with you.  I guarantee it.  I know because you are reading these words and that means you feel something.
.
You may not know exactly what you feel yet, but you feel it nonetheless.  Right?
.
Only you know which horse that is.  Maybe it is several.  It feels like someone calling you in a thick fog from far away.
.
Sometimes when you stop and listen, the sound actually goes away.  So you shake it off and keep walking.  Sound familiar?  Good let’s keep going.  Now think of water.  A stream.
.
It always travels downhill because gravity pulls it, right?
.
Your soul and your horse’s soul are exactly the same way.  Very simple.  Very drawn.  Always there like gravity.  Except for the rare horses that suffers from mental illness.  In all seriousness, just like people, there are mentally impaired horses.  It is important to be aware of this.  When you witness it next time, it will probably be so crystal clear to you  It is natural for us to communicate with animals if we have the attraction to them.
.
It is the reason for the attraction in the first place.
.
It is the universe telling us to do something, toFeel a certain way.
.
The problem comes from our upbringing and our desensitizing due to our mass-produced educational system we use today.  Conform.  Behave.  Be quiet.  Don’t touch.  Come here.  Do this.  Don’t do that.  Mind your own business.
.
.
To survive, with least resistance, we conform and go with the flow out of necessity.  Our spirit is telling us to explore and experiment and learn, but our mind is telling us to stay out of trouble.
.
So we stay out of trouble and wind up turning off and tuning out our natural curiosities.  Play it safe and life is a whole lot easier.  Definitely.  I know.  I too am no, no risk taker for sure.
.
Sometimes the universe just has to force your hand when you are so resistant to see the obvious.  The spirit world will gang up on you and force you to wake up and smell the coffee.
 Wow and then some.
.
.
.
.
Do you feel that pull on your spirit?
.
.
Do you feel that little lift in your spirit when you get around horses?
.
.
Do you ever want to be re-incarnated as a horse  So you can communicate with them better?
.
if you are smiling right now…  The answer is yes and you know exactly what I am talking About.
 yepper-do.
.
It is very important from this moment forward to make a conscious decision to always go where your horse sense, your horse spirit wants to lead you.  Write it.  Say it.  Know it.  Again & again & again & again.
.
 Talk to your horse spirit.
It is with you now as you are sitting there reading this book.
Waiting for you to take this step.
.
They have a sincere interest in helping their fellow equine friends and you are involved in that process.
It is your choice right now.
You can either shake it off & say this is foolish to think this way; I am just being mental and stupid.
.
 Or…
.
you can choose to have a greater understanding of the life and spirits, which surround you on all sides.
The choice is yours right now at this very moment.
.
Remember the broodmare who taught me about her personal traumas in a way in which I could understand and learn?  I have never looked at a foal or mare the same way again.  I have never looked at any horse the same way again because every horse at one time was a foal and wentThru weaning and the pain stays with them their entire life.
.
That was a real turning point in my life.
.
I wonder what yours will be.
.
.
.
.

.
HOW MEMORIES AFFECT OUR LIVES TODAY.
.
Sometimes memories are blocked.  I do not know exactly why, but I have a few of my own ideas.  I have heard many different philosophies on this matter and still to this day, I am not sure.
.
There are too many different variables that are unique to each person’s individual circumstances, life and choices they make.  Two people could go thru the exact same identical event with exactly the same circumstances involved in that event but in the end, wind up with two very, very different evaluations and memories of that event.
.
I cannot explain this so I just accept it and try to remember how thankful I am for the fact that we are all so unique.
.
Each new day is a new opportunity to:
 Be, live, and act different,
 feel and think different,
 learn different
 Handle situations different from those around us.
 Give horses a different option from the other humans.  Give them relief.
.
.
Sometimes memories are blocked.  This happens quite frequently in people, but not in horses. When a memory is blocked, we are completely unaware of it.  Horses do not do this, either by choice for design, I’m not sure.
.
What I am sure of… is I have asked… and been given this knowledge from wise old horse spirits.  They are with me constantly now.  I have many around me at all times.  They change every so often.
.
New ones come in especially when
I get a new horse in for training.
a client brings their horse in for a lesson.
I give a clinic and I am around new horses.
I go to a horse show and meet new horses.
.
When I say I meet a new horse, I do not mean I go up to the horse and speak to it and petIt.  When I look at a horse, I actually feel my spirit go out from my body and meet the horse’s spirit, which is doing the same thing.  This usually takes a few seconds.  It depends on the situation.
.
I don’t control this event I simply release my spirit to travel and let my soul free to do what comes natural.  It kind of feel like a strong wind that I do not brace myself against.  I just let it carry me away.
.
I trust it and let it become a part of my daily life.  Yes, it is scary and awkward at first.  You must relax and be like a good doctor and have lots of patients.
.
During this time of patience.  You must wait for things to happen in their own natural way.   You will be:
 Unsure of what things are supposed to feel like.  Even unsure if you really feel them at all.
.
 Unsure of you ability to pull back and refocus on your own thoughts and feelings.
.
 Paranoid and feel like everyone thinks you are a bit off.
.
 Tense and second guess every thought you have not knowing if it is your own or a spiritsMessage to you.
.
 Excited and eager to see what this big new psychic world hold for you.
.
 Happy at the opportunity to go where you have never gone before.
.
 Thankful for the chance to become more aware of the universe.
.
.
Now that you are looking forward to taking your first steps into a vibrant new dimension of theUniverse.
.
.
.
. It is important you take a moment and write down your own specific fears andAnticipations both good and bad.  Use your mind and let your spirit take you where it wants.

TODAY IS THE FIRST DAY OF YOUR NEW LIFE
.
.
.
.
.
I am always so amazed how quickly animals and children forgive cruelty.
.
We have all beenThere.  We have all snapped at our children and felt awful afterwards.
.
The same is true forAnimals.  I have snapped at my horses and felt so badly afterwards I was about on my kneesWith guilt, sadness, and shame.  Always, the recipient of the cruelty, forgives me before I Forgive myself…curious.  Isn’t it?
.
Sometimes the kindness of the recipient actually makes me feel even more pain, shame and guilt…  Curious again.  Why is this, I have wondered.
.
Why is it so easy to forgive someone who has hurt you?  Why is it so hard to forgive yourself?  Why is the Matter so disturbing?  Your new live, must begin, with forgiveness.  To me this is the absolute hardest thing to do in one’s life.  Period.
.
Every facet of your new spiritual life will come back to forgiveness and you must be prepared for it.  It will smack you in the face and knock you to your knees every time and you must be prepared and have the tools to handle such a powerful Entity.
.
The first day of your new life will begin today.
It must be led by your spirit.
The energy you feel inside that is bursting to get out.
.
Maybe you have pushed it into a far back corner of your soul and ignored it for so long it has no voice of its own anymore.  You must figure this out and come to terms with it before you go any further in this book.
.
Let go ofYour spirit right now and let it move your hand to write words.
  Right now.
Let it tell you What it wants you to know.
.
Step aside and let your spirit identify itself and start you on theRight path today.
sara_shalda/sara_shalda_2.jpg.
 Now at this very moment.
Use the page to knock the cobwebs off your oldMemories and let them go.
.
Look each one face to face and tell them they no longer have theRight to interfere with your live because you are becoming a new person.
Write everythingEven if it makes no sense.
 It will later.
 I promise.

  Look at  horses eyes.
Do you see it?
You should instantly be able to see the horse true identity.
.
The horse is baring its soul to the girl…do you see it?
 Do you see the love?
 See the want.
See the reaching out and meeting with the girl’s soul?
It is enveloping the girl.
 Do you see it?
Your soul is your IDENTITY it is eternal.
It clearly defines who you are and carries with it all the important information about who you are and who you have always been in all the lives you have lived.
.
Think of a soul as a label on an old bottle of wine.
 It states the day it was created
 It gives the contents and ingredients
 It gives the purpose for existing
 It gives instructions how to properly use itSome of us are very close to our souls.
.
Come have pushed it away to a small dark corner of ourBeing and covered it with many blankets rendering it mute.  I have often heard people say “I Don’t know who I am “
.
Bingo….crystal clear indicator they have lost touch with their soul.
.
Maybe you have never said it out loud.
Maybe you have only felt it.
But you felt it so deeply, It had weighed heavily like an elephant on your body, and the weight may be unbearable forYou.
.
Always there are valid reasons and only you know what they are.
.
The concept you haveTo get ready to handle is:
.
 your horse needs to know them too.
 You need to bare your soul to your horse and it is not quite as easy as it sounds.
 It will require you to get to know your reasons you behave the way you do today.
 Why do certain things compulsively.
 Why you avoid certain things fiercely.
 Why you are drawn to a certain type of relationship both human and horse.
 Why you expect to be treated a certain way both human and horse.
.
.
.
The last two mentioned above are super powerful and you definitely need to contemplateThem before going further in this book.
.
Please take the time to do so now.
 Trust me it is reallyImportant.
.
.
You can feel your soul when you instinctively know you don’t belong somewhere.  You feel it when you immediately know you are with the wrong person or people.
.
Many of us have said…” why am I doing this…why am I acting this way…this is not who I am” still other times we have been drawn to act a certain way but only to be teased and ridiculed by others around us.
.
.
This is powerful thought and should be contemplated for a few minutes…please.
.sara_shalda/sara_shalda_e.jpg
.
.
Feeling out of place does not mean you should never be in that place…it only means you should not be there right now.  Later when you are slightly more capable or wise, you may be fine.
You will know when the time is right.
The most common denominator I see with horse owners is……
they don’t listen to that little voice that keeps tapping them on the shoulder and whispering in their ear.
.
Your spirit is what excites you.  It is what instantly gets your attention and always has your entire life.  Your spirit is what guides you, pushes, and pulls you.
.
It is what gives you the Strength to run down the path full force.
Your spirit is what literally gives your body the Electric charge to beat the heart each and every time it does.
 Team spirit.
 The spirit of st. Louis.
 The spirit that drives you
.
.  This is the vital life-giving element we all need to live.
 To Breathe.
 To exist.
Without it, we cease to exist.
.
When the spirit dies there is a void and the Battery is dead.  We will die and often do.  Depression is the result of loss of spirit and no Medication no matter how strong can fix it.
.
We have all been there and hopefully have the Skills to pull out of it in a timely manner.  We all have our own way of doing it.  It is very Personal.  It is true to our own individual skills we have developed in our lifetime for battling Our own individual areas of darkness.
We are not alone.
.
Horses too face dark times that are often overwhelming and threaten to do them in, as they do To us.
.
Like us they are only simple beings bound to the same rules of the universe as we are
.
 they too need a healthy spirit to live.
.
 They too need the same basic principal ingredients to function efficiently.
.
 They too need love and understanding from someone or something.
.
 They too need to be understood and admired for their value.
.
 They too need to be understood.
.
 They too need to feel wanted.
.
 They too need to trust someone or something.
.
 They too need self-confidence.
.
 They too need a place to go for help.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
The most important reason To become close with your soul Is it is…  It is the hinging factor
In your horse fully trusting you.
.
It is at the worst times in our lives that we have the best Opportunity to make real and lasting change for the good of our Journey Thru time.
.
It is important now to think of what excites you and gives you energy.  It is also important to think of what drains your energy.  Damages your spirit.
.
Look at the things listed above a horse needs.
.
Think of how similar they are to your own horse and how to identify them.
Is your horse lacking one of them?
.
Are you lacking one of them?
.
Go thru them one by one and write down exactly what you feel in your heart concerning each one.
.
.
Make sure you write what you feel about your horse and yourself.  Use the entire next page to let it all spill out and don’t worry about making sense right now.
.
.
. I promise it will make sense at a later time when you re-read this.
.
Your horse needs you
.
They need to play and be silly with you.
They need you to be their friend, protector and adviser.
They need to to listen to them and forgive them when they too are Not perfect.
And make critical lapses injudgment Just as we do all the time.
We are all so easily distracted by society and the concerns of ordaily life when we are with our horse. Many of us do not even realize this…but believe me your horsedoes and it will always be an obstacle in the road you and your horse are traveling down together
right now.

WHY… WE ARE DRAWN… TO HORSES
.
Horses have been my constant source of strength even when I did not have them in my life.I use the valuable lessons They teach me And the love they store In my heart To handle the challenges Of my life.
.
It is so interesting when I see young children come to our farm for the first time. Each one has such a very unique reaction.
.
Some are fascinated my horses.
Some cannot keep their hands off.
Some do not want to get close and still some want to just stare at them and have no clue at all what to make of them.
.
It really is fascinating to me. When I was a young child I did not trust people or like them at all for reasons that are not so relevant to this book. I believe it is that very reason I was pulled so strongly to horses. From the first time I walked up to one I felt the pull. I did not know what it was, I only knew it was different and it was interesting. It was not until a few weeks later that I began to open myself up to one special horse and my spirit shot off in a direction it had never gone before.
.
If I had only known where that magic carpet would take me. I never would have believed it.
.

Learning to start over May not be possible

.

a horses eyes are a window to finding your own soul if you set your spirit free to guide you.You have tried and tried and tried and nothing seems to be helping you and your horse.
.
You are frustrated and there is nothing that will help. You feel you spirit losing its footing and sliding away. The reason why you struggle to resolve the hardships In your present day Is because you have not learned to resolve The hardships you suffered Early in life…Or not beenwilling to face them, It is at this point you have to make a choice that will affect the rest of your life and all the relationships you have with horses from here on in.
.
You must make a decision to face the demons of your past or not to.
.
It breaks my heart to think of all the horses that are out there right now suffering at the hands of people who have not come to terms with the past.
.
I see it so often and it is not my place to point it out to people…but you have the opportunity right now in this very moment while you are sitting here reading this book to do something all those other people cannot.
.
You can see the big picture.
 You can see yourself and everything around you
 You can see how you react to things and why
 You can see the need for a change
 You can see the need for you to play a greater role in your horses life
. You can see you horse is wanting something from you.
 You can see you do not have it to offer them
 You can see but not far enough. Not clear enough, not quickly enough. All you can see is a sea of drifting feelings, Moods, actions, reactions, regrets and repression.  All you know is you have had enough.
.
Now is when you must decide to open the closet doorand fight the boogieman or not Write your decision . My decision is____________.
The things I think I can try to change to let my spirit free are_______.
The things I know I am not strong enough yet to face are_________.
If I find a horse I am dealing with has gone thru similar issues I will _____.
The safest place for me right now is _____.
The safest place for my horse is __________.
The best memory of my entire life is___________.
My horses best memory of their entire life is _________  .

.
OFFER UP YOUR PAIN & YOU WILL GAIN
.
Do you see the smile ?There are certain laws of physics and metaphysics that are undeniable. There is no way around elements such as gravity, oxygen, daylight, nutrition, the earth’smagnetic field.
.
Our own magnetic field, our emotions and our heartbeat for examples. If anyone of these are interrupted, life as we know it is drastically different. Sometimes not at allpossible and we will cease to exist.
.
Animals rely on many of the same guiding principles to liveas we do. Granted a horse raised in the wild plains of the Nevada desert relies on a fewdifferent principals because they have never seen humans before but in general, regardless ofbeing domestic or wild, we both require many of the same elements for viability. Horses andhumans both have the remarkable ability to be both emotionally strong and emotionallyfragile at the same time.
.
Many people I deal with never realize how deeply their horsescontemplate their own existence and self worth on a daily basis. Even more so when they arehandled on a daily basis such as for shores show training.
.
The typical horse I see, carries with them, many of the same burdens we humans do; and just like us, they try to repress and notdeal with them in order to make life easier on a daily basis.
.
Just like us, horses have mentalbreaks and become overwhelmed with situations and act out in many of the same ways we do.
.
The biggest difference being the whole language thing. Setting that aside…the biggest conflicthorses and humans both have and strangely enough never seems to ever be recognized ispain.  Pain is a consistent conflict because it interrupts the normal thought pattern and thenormal smooth, serene flow of life.
.
For a horse…There are so many different kinds of pain
 There is physical pain from ill fitting tack or riders equipment.
 There is physical pain from an injury sometimes from years ago and nobody knows about it.
 There is physical pain from an infected or abscessed tooth.
 There is physical pain from an illness or disease.
 There is physical pain from tired sore muscles or strained and pulled muscles, tendons, ligaments.
 There is mental pain from knowing you have to do something today you really hate. There is mental pain from hating the person that is around you all the time.
 There is mental pain from not being able to understand what a human is trying to force you tolearn.
 There is mental pain from hating the stall you live in
 There is mental pain from hating the food you eat or not having enough of it.
 There is emotional pain from missing your home and stable mates while you are in a trainingbarn
 There is emotional pain from bad dreams so bad they disrupt daily life.
 There is emotional pain from watching a stable mate be hurt, whipped, beaten, etc and beinghelpless to stop it.
.
.
.
stop….change.
Learning to recognize a horse in pain Is easier than recognizing your own pain.  It is easier and it will open the gateway to a universe not many people are privileged to be a part of.
.
Having an honest an real concern for a horse is more than just recognizing a certain condition as a vet does. Putting the well being of a horse before your own will give you an insight reserved for only the most special of horse lovers.
.
This insight is empowered by the spirit of the horse you are working with and the spirits of all the other horse spirits trying to help you be a benefit to the horses you work with. There are millions of horse spirits out there are watching all of us and waiting to help us in caring for their brethren.
.
They will take any opportunity they see, to make the lives of horses here, in this existence, better and more pleasant. The horses we see on a daily basis are aware of the spirit guides and interact with them.
.
Have you ever noticed you horse staring intently off into space at seemingly absolutely nothing? Well it is not nothing. It is the other horse spirits coming and going and playing with each other.
.
You can have the same sight if you wish. If you completely give yourself and all your energy day and night to the horse spirit guides. Giving them this energy will empower them to communicate more strongly with you. They must draw their energy from somewhere.
Let it be you.
You have a choice to recognize them,
to feel them,
to sense them and let their energy and your become one and stay that way for the rest of your life.
.
.
Please take a moment right now.
Close your eyes and try to sense the horse spirits that are thereWith you right now.
.
I promise they are there watching you reading this book hoping you will progress and graduate to a new awareness closer to them.
Greet them.
 Say hello.
I know you are there.
I am trying to communicate with you.
i am Trying to sense you.
Tying to feel you.
I am trying.
Please help me.
.
Take and use my energy to be strong and give me a thought right now.
.
Just one thought. Please right now.
I am trying so hard.
 Be still.
Wait.
.
.
Then write down the message you get.
.sara_shalda/sara_shalda_draft_horse_trainer.jpg
That little voice In your headThis picture was taken of me and a young three year old PERCHERON gelding. Yes we are ona flatbed trailer. The horse you see in this picture was telling me he wanted to climb on thistrailer. I could not believe it and thought it too dangerous to I ignored that little voice in myhead.
.
I said it was just my own stupid voice trying to pull a stunt with a horse. My adventurous nature has always gotten me into trouble and I have learned to keep it in check over the years. Every day I kept hearing the voice and the thought of getting on that stupid trailer, was so intense at times, it made me break out in a sweat. Gosh…what the heck?
.
After several weeks I, me Sara shalda, relented. I led my gelding over to the trailer to climb on it. Before I could even get on it myself, my gelding leaped on top of the trailer with an enormous smile on his face.
.
I have no words in my human vocabulary to express my emotions at that moment.
.
It was then I became aware of that little voice in my head.
That annoying, irritating little pest that would not go away was my horse.
 Wow.
Talk about a paradigm shift.
 Holy….. cow.
.
I spent the next several days apologizing to my friend for ignoring his spirit that was trying to communicate with me. As usual the horse forgave me much quicker than I forgave myself.
.
That little voice.
What a mystery I thought.
What a completely confusing concept to deal with. How do I know if what I am hearing and sensing as a thought in my brain… is coming from my horse…or from me? I wondered and I wondered and I wondered.
.
Then one day it hit me like ten ton of bricks when my horse nickered to me… as I walked up to him.
“Just ask me he said.”
It about brought me to my knees.
How could I be so stupid?
I still had a lot to learn and I needed help.
.
That is when I started to develop a much more intense communication with my horse. I started using mental telepathy as we know and understand it to stay in constant contact with my horse no matter where I was during the day or night.
.
At first I did this only to see how far the connection would go, what distance it would carry before breaking.
.
It never broke no matter how far I was away from him. Now that I have sold him, I have told him I cannot be tuned into him anymore because it is too painful for me to be without him.
.
It literally would flatten me on the floor and completely debilitate me if I truly let myself feel  how much I miss him.
So I do not.
.
I ask him to not communicate with me due my my overly  sensitive state and it will cause me too much pain.
.
He understands and keeps away until a  time comes when I am stronger and have a better grasp on my new found sensitivity.
.
I do not  know when that day will come.
It is reassuring to know he understands and it is because my  love for him is so great I have to block him out.“
.
A horse comes around every so often That  completely turns your whole world upside down”.
.
Do you have a little voice in your head that  has been trying to tell you something over the last few days?
.
Please use the next few lines to  think and write down your thoughts regarding this. Exactly what horse this little voice is  coming from and how you have responded to it up to this point and how you are going to  respond in the future.
.sara_shalda/sara_shalda_clydesdale_bath.jpg
THAT CONSTANT TUG ON YOUR HEART…I put extra photos in this chapter because sight is the easiest way horses have to communicate theneed for our help.
.
Over and over again I see horses reaching out to people with a look. A singlelook with so much energy and spiritual pull behind it. A look that is screaming for help.
 Why won’t anybody help me?
 Why doesn’t anyone care?
 Why don’t you love me?
 What do I have to do to get someone to save me?
.
.
.
After the horse tries for a usually long time repeatedly to ask for help…they like us…give upand say to themselves…Nobody cares….Nobody will help me…It‟s no use to cry for help…Thereis no hope…I just want to die and get it over with…The suffering is too great.
.
It happens every day to many animals and people around the world in ways we cannot evenimagine in the darkest corners of our mind unless we have actually been there to witness it.
.
Please be aware once you open yourself up to the spiritual world of horses …you will be ableto sense all…all the pain they feel. The good with the bad. You will get it all and you must beprepared for that fact. It is extremely difficult and a great burden to bear.
.
Horses look around and what do they see.
 They see other horses. Are those other horses going to help them?
 They look around and they see us. Are we going to help them?
 What does your horse see when he looks at you?
 If you were a horse…how would you ask for help?
 What would you do if someone was hurting you
 If you were a horse spirit, how would you get a horse owners attention?

How can you tellwhen a difficult time in your life is a direct result of an earlier event? This is a question onlyyou will be able to know. If anyone professes know, they are full it.

Many of us are recovering from extreme difficulties in our lives right now. We are amazed weare still here and actually doing as well as we are right now, myself included.
.
As a professional horse trainer, my job is to make winning blue ribbons look effortless and soeasy to attain. It’s not the process; it’s the outcome that wins blue ribbons. Bla bla bla.
.
I would not be who I am today if I had not been through my own personal hell as a humanbeing. Each one of us must endure his or her own nightmare once in a while.Horses too face catastrophic challenges.
.
The difference here is…..    Horses are not at the top of the food chain…we are. Try as they may to lead a pain free life, it is up to us in the end to hurt them or to heal them. The above photo is the result of a human who took his aggression out on a horse and onepicture truly does tell a thousand words Above is a horse that was in the wrong place at the wrong time in Iraq. This horse was left to die in the desert when the owners no longer wanted it.It is important right now to write down what you are sensing…. and the thought you arebeing given.

.
 When horses are angry…..
I used this photo here because it perfectly demonstrates my point of human ignorance. .
The people obviously took this picture because they thought it was funny.
Do you?
The pony would love nothing more than for that fence to not be there so he could stop the torment from this child.
I’m sure this pony has endured years of other torment which let to this extreme unnatural aggressiveness. Horses are not naturally aggressive.
Not one iota.
Even when stallions fight over breeding right in the wild they rarely seriously hurt each other.
.
.
Horses have so may signal indicators which tell others how they are felling. When they are getting fed up and angry. They have these indicators to ward off confrontation. .
.
Horses do not, repeat do not like confrontation. They have no sharp canine teeth for ripping flesh from their opponent. They have no sharp claws in which to tear and attack with.
.
They have nostinger, no quills. No stink glands.
Nothing. They have virtually no defenses.
.
Never really thought about it like that have you?
Well horses have and they tell me all the time how defenseless they are. How frustrating it is  to endure the same torture day in and day out.
.
There are so many different scenarios.
I have tried to give you as many as I could in this book but the truly desired will of the spirits who let me to write this book is for you to recognize and handle the instances on your own. Learnto see with your own eyes the white flags and hear with your own spirit the SOS of horses that cross you path.
.
What would make you so upset that the only relief you could find is to chew on wood? If you looked around and saw other horses being hurt…….what would you do if you were ahorse?
 Helpless and fearful.
It‟s coming and I must endure itPhotographs are memories locked in time.

.
They are powerful sensory experiencesUse each one of these photos independently to feel each memoryPain is powerful and its residual energy is eternal   HandsHorses don’t have hands but trust me…they wish they did. All of them.
.
Every single time, you pet a horse; endorphins in the both human and the horse are released. Endorphins are a powerful chemical the body produces by itself. They are more powerful than any other drug on the planet.
.
The obvious question of how do horses scratch an itch often makes us laugh because images of horse going thru allkinds of contortions to scratch that one special itch come to mind and some of them are pretty hysterical .
.
Every single horse I meet a new horse, they tell me
 being petted is their favorite thing.
.
Many enjoy a hug or two but always petting and stroking like a mother broodmare licking her foal is what they want desperately.
.
Ever since a horse gave me this analogy about being licked by its mother, it is always what I try to make my hand feel like …when I am petting a horse… and they can tell…when I do it .
.
Our hands can hurt a horse when the grip the reins too tightly and smash a bit up against a horses teeth, another consistent complaint I have from horses. This action is never intentional on the part of the human, well almost never intentional. A major realization I had one day is that most people who abuse horses are helpless in the world to defend themselves so they pick on their horse.
.
Usually not to flat out be cruel…but instead just to empower themselves.
.
.
This is a powerful statement because most of us at one time or another have had to swallow our pride and do things in this world just to survive and usually keep our job or keep other people happy or avoid conflict.
.
There just nothing I can do about it we say, and go on.
.
All those humbling and humiliating experiences are stored away and some spilling out when we find out we can gain power over a large creature like a horse.
.
We have bits, spurs, whips, twitches, tie downs, head checks, ankle chains, etc. So many ways we can manipulate a horse to behave the way we want.
.
So what do all these unfortunate but true facts have to do with hands?.
.
I once asked a horse a question very casually in passing and the answer stopped me dead in my tracks.
.
I asked the horse…“What is the first thing you would do if you had hands?”  Expecting them to say something like scratch my butt or my belly.
.
But instead the horse said…I would put a bit in my owners mouth and slam that hard piece of metal in to their teeth over and over again and watch in sheer delight as they were trapped in a standing martingale and could not evade the painful shocks to their nervous system
.
.
. Day after day I have been pulled out of my stall knowing the pain I was about to suffer.
.
Please please please tell her to stop it, I beg you please.
What the heck?
Whoa…Not again. Here I go again having to save another horse crying out to me for help.
Geeze I hate this. It is too hard.
The owner is going to be a real bi&^% and think I am crazy but what else can I do.
.
This poor horse is looking to me for help.
Nobody else can hear this horse.
Nobody else can help him.
.
It is a this time the horse gives me his pain so I can first hand feel for myself exactly what the horse is going thru.
.
The first time this happened was with that pony years and years ago and it was difficult beyond words.
.
This time I had more experience but the pain was unfortunately all too familiar and all to similar to the ponies.
.
All I asked for was a closer relationship to my horse and her I find myself in this mess again.
.
I guess you have to take the good with the bad…Right?
.
Would   your horse benefit from bringing their stress levels down, or perhaps some additional therapy to aid an ailment or injury they have.
.
.sara_shalda/clydesdale_trainer.jpg
Meeting of the spirits should be accepted or refused at the horses consent rather than with the owners request. A horse may accept or reject the offer. Their sense is extraordinary. They are far more able to know what they want and need.    Some people know this spiritual union as Reiki.
/
Horses regard Reiki along the same pleasure lines as food, hay and grooming. It is quite unusual to find a rejection.
/
A refusal is usually to do with trust. If trust has been lacking in the history of the animal… They won‟t trust us to do anything for them other than abuse & insult. In this situation, Reiki will then be administered directly to the situation surrounding and causing the anguish …Rather than directly to the animal.
/
/
The situation can be calmed down. Balance restored to the horses soul and spirit. Weaning Foals who need calming and stability in their lives after being removed from the only protection they have ever known, always benefit from Reiki or “hands. Ever since my own experience with this personally I use it with every single baby I come in training with. This is also useful in the treatment of injuries and behavioral problems, such as bad backs, wounds, head shaking, and problems associated with past traumatic experience. I see Horses suffering stress which cause imbalances in various ways. These imbalances can produce sudden out of character habits – rearing, nipping or bucking for example.
.
Becoming one and loving your horse helps the body to heal itself. Re-balancing the areas where it is needed most. I also use it prior competition to relax the horse both physically and mentally. I can personally testify to this working. It is a must for me before every horse show. I personally re-double my efforts to communicate how much I need their cooperation and willingness to put extra effort into this event. Horses love Reiki and absorb energy very quickly.
.
They often go into state of relaxation. They are very good at telling you when they have had enough! Reiki can also be given over the stable door for horses that are very nervous or difficult to handle. Used hand in hand with my everyday training methods, Reiki or becoming one with the horse spirits that surround me at all times always proves to be an invaluable tool.  Some horses can take a long time to „come down‟ from a specific situation like excitement, nervousness or fear.
.
There is a much kinder, effective and quicker way of getting your horse to do what you want. It is quite simple – you ask, and then make it easy for the horse to get it right. If you get is wrong, your horse will tell you.
.
Correct it, and then ask again.
Wait for your horse to help you.
.
Horses are born with this ability. So are you but you have never developed it until now. Body language is paramount. In the wild this is the primary way of communicating within the herd. You can see this if you watch horses in a paddock together.  Direct eye contact, standing square, or dropping your eyes and shoulders all have very strong meanings in the horses world. Most of my clients only see the obvious, ears forward means happy, ears back means beware. There is much more than that.
.
You can better communicate using positive body language. If you can recognize and communicate with your horse this way, you have overcome the biggest hurdle. You are talking to them in their language. Hence the term „horse whisperers‟.
.
.
There is no black magic involved. It is logical and „natural‟.
.
When you use this new found togetherness during the training of a horse, the end result is achieved much quicker, with far less anguish for the horse and trainer. It is especially important when working with many different breeds and many different horses as I do on a daily basis. I can accomplish in an hour what it takes other trainers weeks to do.
.
Problems such as horses loading in a trailer can take hours. All too are often caused by your own negative body language and spiritual negativity.
.
You just know your horse is going to be an ass about getting into the trailer…Your horse just knows you are going to be an ass about him not wanting to get into the trailer…. The clash of the titans ensues.
.
You stand in front of the horse look him in the eye, which tells him to back off, and you then pull, he pulls right back. Negative versus negative. Ever try to put two negative ends of a magnet together?
.
This is a very simple, non intrusive and extremely powerful process.
.
There is no bodily pressure or manipulation, making it ideal for working with all conditions. The key here is just t  treat your horse the way you would want to be treated. I know that can be hard when you lose your temper or are in a hurry.
.
You must practice loading just like you practice riding.  Please take a moment right now and wite down your experiences with negative energy.

My horses best memory of their entire life is _________  .
.
